The success story of a company that is now a world leader in designing and manufacturing laboratory equipment all started with a small glass blowing workshop on the eastern border of Switzerland. BÜCHI Labortechnik AG has also expanded beyond many geographical boundaries. More than a dozen subsidiaries are spread across surrounding European countries and across the globe. But this strong presence also created problems: Local working processes were too different and hampered transparency and efficiency on a global level. A standardized management tool was needed – SAP Business One was the answer. The BÜCHI Group chose Coresystems to be its implementation partner.
A certain structural unit is required to compare the market activities of several sites with each other, and to interrelate and systematically manage these. It was precisely this coherence that was missing in the BÜCHI Group. The different CRM and ERP software that was used in sales and service companies hampered the desired corporate transparency. Group reports also always turned out to be too complex and elaborate. BÜCHI management wanted to optimize its management of business processes using the SAP Business One management tool. The implementation of the new system affected numerous interfaces for around 300 users.
Coresystems impressed us with its experience in implementing systems in the international field and on the Asian continent in particular, where the BÜCHI Group has several sites. The timeframe for implementing SAP B1 and MS Dynamics CRM, the “Büchi Business Platform” (BBP), was tight (March 2012 to the end of 2014) and required great efficiency and flexibility from the many people involved. The greatest challenge in the project was implementing the desired standardization and taking all local requirements into consideration at the same time. The large number of different interfaces and personnel resources that needed to be coordinated increased the level of complexity. The skilled specialists at Coresystems were able to meet the requirements for overarching processes by making targeted adjustments, and were also able to correct the unstable interfaces. With some minor extensions, SAP B1 also proved to be the ideal solution for the new production site in Surat, India.
SAP Business One and Coresuite Cube enable BÜCHI to sustainably optimize its market intelligence. Monthly reports can now be implemented quickly. Logistical and financial processes in sales and services companies have been simplified. The sales and services companies are now generally better integrated into the BÜCHI Group. The solution implemented by Coresystems has brought the data transparency that the worldwide company desired to the BÜCHI Group.
